The Art Of Negotiation : Selling The Future

Hey guys,

So it's been a pretty quiet week for the Maverick Hustler team in terms of the parties. We are currently in the midst of a few projects, from confirming deals for the coming months as well as completing our move into our new premises, aptly named The Gentlemen's Lounge. Still, we appreciate the e-mails that have been coming in with regards to our Maverick Hustler Program and even some Highlife Experience inquiries. As it stands, we have 4 available slots left for the Maverick Hustler Program from 27th-29th May 2011. If you are looking to empower yourself with street-smarts, confidence with a devilish Swagger to boot, then start booking those slots right now to avoid disappointment!

While Tim is the one who's mostly busy with the home decoration work, I have been out there locking down contracts with Jiron and Laveen. Next week will be crunch time for Laveen's Social Media campaign for one of our clients, De Burg, Home of the Burgasm. We have come up with an amazing Social Media strategy with one of our partners, GGI, to attempt to expand the company's reach, conversion and retention through Social Media. The entire campaign is fronted by Laveen, who will spend the next 12 weeks implementing it. I'll be posting the details of the campaign as soon as it begins so brace yourselves for a few weeks of awesome offers on some of the best burgers in the world! I am excited to see the results, which I reckon are gonna be fantastic!

I also managed to lock down an investor this afternoon, who was willing to sponsor us a spot for our seminars and classroom training sessions. I'm sure glad I learned The Art Of Negotiation, which allowed me to pull out all the punches, inspiring the owner of the venue to not only allow the premises to be locked down, but even fork out a cool 5-figure amount to renovate the place for my own use. Among the many things I laid out in my negotiations, I would like to cite a personal technique of mine that NEVER fails to provide me with more leverage while negotiating.

The Art of Negotiation : Selling The Future

I consider this skill to be one of the most lethal skills to have when becoming a master negotiator is being able to sell the future effectively. Admittedly, this is a skill that I use on a very regular basis, all the way from seduction to the times I settle bills at restaurants.

In order to sell the future, you have to :

1) Know the future you are selling

2) Believe in the future you are selling

3) Effectively point out how this future scenario is the best decision for the other party

'Oh the future is bright yo!'

I would use my experience today as an example. The scenario is as follows : My investor had a decent amount of space in his office. After Weighing Reality for my investor, I persuaded my investor to concede that the space he had in his office had a lot of potential to be put to better use. I then started selling him the future. I told him that by spending a one-time fee which was within his means, he would not only have a new, refreshing feel to his office, he would also have a new money-making resource that would provide him with an additional income stream. My strategy was to make this one-time fee serve as a passive, operational sideline business for years to come. Having a strong understanding of Success Initiative's financial performance and credibility, I was able to present my value to it's maximum potential as my leverage point. I told my investor that if he agrees to bear the costs of the renovation work, I would dedicate the credibility of my brand to his venue.

This was a golden win-win situation. My investor would have the prestige of housing one of the most dynamic Personal-Empowerment companies in the world. This would see increased human traffic to his office, which will give him greater exposure to his business as well as open avenues for more subliminal marketing for him. Success Initiative would stand to gain a conducive and stylish headquarters for the conducting of its workshops. I added a bonus incentive to an already-sweet deal : I intended to commercialize the venue and make it available for rent to other prestigious SMEs as well. While this move will allow the other companies to have a highly functional and conducive working environment for their work, my investor would also be able to add more prestige to his new resource while making additional passive income.

What I did was essentially turn a redundant, stagnant area of a business owner's office into a prestigious and effective resource for SMEs to build themselves upon, which will serve to make money for all parties who would be keen to get involved. In fact, the idea was so good that we actually began talking about time-frames and putting details to the plans. I would go ahead set a goal to be able to conduct May's Maverick Hustler Program at this new venue! The key here was really being able to sell the future. Using my experience and street-smarts from my Maverick Hustler training, I was able to devise a clear, concise plan that would bring about a brighter future for everyone. I myself was sold on the idea, it was fantastic in my opinion, so it was a lot easier for me to sell it to my investor. After I laid out the reality of the present situation and laid out clearly the future scenarios of him agreeing to work with me versus him not agreeing to, it became very clear to my investor that NOT working with me would be one of the stupidest business decisions ever!

Remember folks, opportunities are EVERYWHERE! There are problems to be solved, solutions to be refined and people to make happier. Open your eyes, find those opportunities to exercise your talents and start rolling in some money! If you like the stuff that we do at Success Initiative and you are interested in learning how to live a life of seizing opportunities, book yourself one of the last 4 slots for a Maverick Hustler Program today!

In my next post, I will be talking about the impending launch of Success Initiative's FIRST ever e-book : "The Maverick Hustler Success Formula". I am excited to be sharing that with you real soon so until next time...

Hustle On!
